ABOUT FLASH FICTION:
What is Flash? Flash pieces are micro-stories, complete entities under 1,000 words. Sometimes they are condensed versions of more traditional story structures and sometimes they are innovative prose poems. The most important thing is that it feels like a complete story, and it is not just a summary of a longer idea or a scene in which nothing happens. We include a range of styles in this anthology, from hilarious to somber. We just want it to knock us out of our editorial socks.
When considering whether you are writing flash, ask yourself: Does it feel complete? Does it succeed in telling a story, portraying a moment, character, or sensation? Is it entertaining/thoughtful/edgy/poignant or all of the above? Does it deliver in under 1,000 words? Then we want it.
